How these Wordle hints work
Each foil hides one fact about today’s word, ordered by how much it gives away. Vowel count and repeated letters shape your next guess without handing you anything. The first letter narrows a list of about 2,300 possible answers to roughly a hundred. The last letter usually finishes the job.
If your grid is already full of yellows and you still can’t see it, the letter hints won’t help much. That’s when a meaning clue does. It describes the word the way a crossword would, and the answer itself is filtered out before it reaches you.

When does the new Wordle come out?
A new Wordle unlocks at midnight in your own time zone, so players in different countries switch days at different moments. This page uses your device’s date, so you always see hints for your puzzle.
Are these hints spoilers?
Nothing is shown until you tap it. The hints go from gentle (how many vowels) to strong (the first letter) to the answer itself, which sits behind an orange foil you have to scratch on purpose.
Does Wordle ever repeat an answer?
For years the NYT avoided reusing answers, but it has since said past answers can return. So a word you remember solving is no longer ruled out.
What was yesterday’s Wordle answer?
Tap the previous day in the Earlier links under the date. Yesterday’s page has the same hints, with the answer under its orange foil.
What is a good first guess?
Words with common, spread-out letters, such as RAISE, ARISE or SLATE, leave the fewest candidates on average. Our starting-word lab scores any word against the whole answer list.
How does hard mode change things?
In hard mode every green letter must stay in place and every yellow letter must be reused in later guesses. It stops you from “burning” a guess on fresh letters, so early guesses matter more.
