Hints that climb, answers that wait

Each game page stacks its hints from gentlest to strongest. On Wordle, that means vowel count, then repeated letters, then the first letter. On Connections, it’s one group at a time: a nudge, one word, then the category. Only the last foil on each page, the orange one, hides the actual answer.

When the letters aren’t the problem, the meaning is, ask for a fresh clue. An AI writer gets the answer privately, is told never to say it, and anything that slips through is blacked out before it reaches your screen. Treat it like a friend who knows the word and is trying very hard not to blurt it.

A good hint works a bit like a good explanation: it shows you the one thing you were missing and lets you finish the thought. That same feeling is what ahaboo builds on, walking you through why the Moon cycles from crescent to full until the pattern suddenly clicks.

Questions

Is PuzzleHints Daily affiliated with the New York Times?

No. It is an independent fan site. The puzzles belong to The New York Times; we only write hints about them and link you back to play.

Will I see the answer by accident?

No. Every hint and answer is hidden under a foil you have to tap. Answers use a different orange foil so you never scratch one by mistake.

How does the streak work?

Tap “I solved it” on any game page. Each day with at least one solved puzzle extends your streak. It is stored only in this browser; clear it anytime on the streaks page.

When do new puzzles appear?

Wordle, Connections and Strands switch at midnight your time. Spelling Bee and Letter Boxed switch at 3 a.m. Eastern. The Mini appears the evening before (10 p.m. Eastern on weekdays, 6 p.m. on weekends).
