Why feedback, not letter filters
Most helpers treat a gray tile as “this letter isn’t in the word”. That’s wrong when you guessed a letter twice: guess GEESE when the answer is THOSE and the final E turns green while the first two E’s turn gray, even though E is very much in the word. The solver avoids that trap by replaying each guess against every candidate and keeping only words that would light up exactly the same way.

How does this Wordle solver work?
For every word on the list it replays your guesses and checks whether that word would have produced exactly the colors you saw. Only words that match every row survive. That handles repeated letters correctly, which simple letter filters often get wrong.
Which word list does it use?
The 2,315 answers from Wordle’s original answer list, plus about 10,600 other words Wordle accepts as guesses. The NYT has added and removed a few words since, so treat the list as very close rather than official.
What is the “best next guess”?
The guess that leaves the fewest possible answers on average, whatever colors come back. It is sometimes a word that can’t be the answer, because splitting the pool well beats a lucky shot.
Is using a solver cheating?
It’s your game. Many players use a solver only after finishing, to see how many words were still possible at each step.
